Main advantage of litecoin mus be lower fees compare to Bitcoin. Exchanges are getting crazy when you need withdraw your btc. If you have lower amounts of BTC then its easy to exchange it to LTC and send it to your private wallet for a few cents. I think team has already succeed to keep people interest on LTC by their great idea of being lite version of bitcoin 
This is why Litecoin is getting more people using it. If people use bitcoin for transactions without the lightning network, then the bitcoin network might suffer the same problem of a congestionated network like happened in the end of 2017.
