How could you possibly be losing out on this?
Just don't open the wallet too often to unlock and stake.  I believe if you're locked the node still runs and you can unlock every 2 weeks and bank.  

Although I believe running the wallet should be encouraged along with you, this works, it's always worked.  I believe the issue will be resolved eventually.
