By looking only at the yearly lowest dollar value you'll find out that Bitcoin is always more expensive in a given year than in the previous year. On average, its dollar value increases (at least) 325% p.a. on average (2010 - 2018).

Because when the market has only a few hundred people, manipulating the price to double is an easy task. But when our market has grown as it is now, we should compare it in years. The last 2018 was a huge failure for many investors and it created wealth for a few people.
But I still believe that, BTC is still on a good growth and it can break the $ 10,000 threshold in 2019.
