People lose money when shit like that happens. If people believe you are lying they may panic.
It could have been a ids that saved the day or more likely patching all of their servers to heaps of compromises that have been announced recently and they were slow to do it. I honestly wouldn't worry too much Binanace makes a ton due to their volume, they have SAFU and if they keep the hot wallets small everything is fine even with occasional fuck ups.
