Unfortunately, most people who are color blind cannot distinguish green from red. I'm not sure what such people actually see, though, since I'm not color blind.
I think it also depends on the shade of green or red used. Dark green is a good choice over light green to me By the way Incase you are wondering how a red-green color-blind individual sees these colors, the picture below has a good simulation of it
