Yes it seems crazy but it's perfectly normal. All cryptocurrency (Bitcoin and Litecoin in primis) in their first days/months of mining had these problem.
It's caused by the increase of hashpower in correlation with difficulty.
When new power is added, then increase the number of coin minted every minute.
In effect it's the mining stability the real value of a cryptocurrency, it depend of the work and dedition of miners that choose it!
