It's been a while I'm looking for an answer to how peoples find out the non-famous, low to zero reputation platforms... Those scam sites must have been using any sort of marketing tactics to reach the naive users.
Probably just through googling and using any site that pops up from the result without even caring about whether they are scammers or not.My guess is OP might have just google searched "how to convert bitcoin to paypal"
According to https://www.similarweb.com. In the month of May Most of the website's traffic originated from Ghana of which it was still ranked 58,537th in that country
100% of the websites traffic was coming in through searches
That's how OP fell into a trap and lost money
