I have been scammed a few times with cryptocurrencies. Many of my friends also have similar experience. And in none of the cases, the money was returned. And I don't know a single incidence in which the scammers returned the stolen money.
There were some instances but very rare like this one
The cyberattacker believed to be responsible for a 51 percent on the Ethereum Classic (ETC) blockchain has returned $100,000 in stolen proceeds, while keeping roughly $1 million.
According to Gate.io, the funds were returned last week but it is not known why the cryptocurrency has been returned, or for what purpose -- and efforts to contact the hacker have proved fruitless so far.
I had no bitcoins stolen from me in the first place but if I did I wouldn't expect the thief to feel remorse and send it back. Such things almost never happen.
Maybe it's because I don't have much faith in humanity.
