Well, the blockchain technology is transparent, meaning to say it is open to the general public. In countries full of concealed transactions, blockchain is a better option. And of course, these kind of countries are too centralized as to focus the power only to the ruling person or party. Cryptocurrency is therefore a viable option. However, the problem, and it is a huge problem, is that the common people might be deprived of the technologies that would allow them to use blockchain and crypto. They might have no access to electricity, much less to computers and the internet.
