I highly doubt that a scammer had any influence over mod's decision to ban him. Afair he was banned with many other accounts in early/mid May in a huge ban wave.
I've been thinking about hilariousandco's reply for "no handled reports in the queue" and what it means. In my experience with reporting plagiarism there are three possible scenarios/outcomes:
- 1. reported message - it gets deleted - account isn't banned
- 2. reported message - it gets deleted - account is banned
- 3. reported message - message is not deleted - account is banned
I don't pretend to know how SMF mod panel works but what if there was another msg reported, it was then deleted (hence no longer visible/in the queue)?
Idk i'm just thinking out loud, regardless of what happened he should be unbanned (time served), first batch of 60-days-temp-banned-accounts are getting "free" in a couple of days.

I also doubt that a scammer would have that much influence, but it looks that way.
As I said looks can be deceiving.
Usually there are 5, 10, 15, 20 even more copied posts.
Here there is one instance which is gray and or subject to interpretation as to whether it was plagiarism.
Since intent is not clear that he was plagiarizing.
When you look at the over all quality of his posting and you look at the one in question it simply looks like he
was repeating rules to a question.
Thus the ban looks like it is more likely in retaliation for his scam work.
I think it is not true, but it does give that appearance.
If more bad posts exist it should be that they are shown.
