I for one am happy to see clubs spending big on players I don't really rate too highly. I like Griezmann a lot don't get me wrong, but nowhere he is worth 120m, much less 200m. And yes, I'm taking into account the grossly inflated rates everyone commands. I know Liverpool are partly to blame for the Alisson and VVD buys, but then we already had eyes on them and the price tag was nothing we were able to do about.

P.S. Will the Italian rules also be retrospective or will any deals done before 2020 season starts be exempt?

I don't particularly like Griezman as well but 120M for him vs. 113M that Atletico paid for Joao Felix is a bargain. Griezman is world champion and proven quality throughout many seasons while felix isj ust making his first professional steps and has one good season under his belt.

That being said I think Barca will not find much happiness with him. The supporters will just wait for his first sub par performance and start to pick on him due to his dismissal (trough video) last season. He will have to hit the ground running at Camp Nou for any happiness at the club. And it is a big change to switch from defensive minded, high work-rate Atletico football to Barca way of play where everything is about Messi.
