No, GXG is far from dead, we still are up and running and all is well.  Our plan to add masternodes has been delayed till later this year, but still in our plans.  Besides masternodes, what other things are you looking for from our coin or like to see added?  We curious to know - we consider this a community project and are always looking for new ideas.
