That's still a reasonable amount for a veteran who does not have to play a lot of minutes, it's most likely his popularity is getting paid for, and I'm pretty sure that investment will have a good ROI since he could attract the crowd. He is just an intelligent player to last that long season in the NBA and he has really improve his 3 point shooting and he can step up whenever he is called for the team to help.
