I will not discuss the demand for cryptocurrencies.
But to understand liquidity, you should try to trade with some altcoin. For a better understanding, not the biggest exchange. As an example, you can also watch
EDC trading on any exchange other than Yobit (a trading you cannot trust). You can see that trades are rare, in small amounts. Only
ETH has enough liquidity to trade any amounts.
Also big trading volumes of EDC are on LocalTrade but even on coinmarketcap is written the the trading volumes on LocalTrade is excluded. It mean that it may be a fake volumes. But in all cases even if some of the trade volumes are fake the real trade volumes of EDC tokens in compare of other tokens are big.
