Modric was a key player for Real winning the CL & Croatia reaching the world cup final. I dont think you can question his 2018. I dont get the Pogba hype, I really dont.
He had a spectacular season no doubt, but not one capable of making him the best player in the world, last year's award was a sham, I really didn't know what they were getting at, it was obvious Ronaldo was the best player as of last year.
So many players have had the season modric had last season.Reallly? Name a few.
That reward is awarded for accomplishments in particular year and heavily influenced by doing well in top tournaments. That year biggest stage was World Cup followed by Champions League. Modric won CL and finished 2 in WC and he was most important player in Croatia squad and arguably one of top 3 in Real squad.
If somebody else deserved it more, than for me it would have been Varane (won both CL and WC but arguably not as important part of those squads as Modric) or Griezmann who had one hell of a season but not a very good result in CL.
Ronaldo and Messi are better players then all of the above but they didn't deserve the reward that particular year.
Players like Pogba and Neymar are really getting on my nerves. Yes, they are excellent footballers but their behavior is totally unacceptable. They have huge contracts at top clubs and are constantly bitching about something. I wouldn't want them in any club that I support.
I feel the same about Pogba, ,Neymar and many other players today. They just run for money and don't have respect toward others.
Buffon and Totti, just to mention two players, was great players but also great examples because they was loyal to their clubs and showed respect to others.
People will never respect and remember Pogba or Neymar like they recpect Totti or Buffon and it's obvious why.
