Marscoin is forging stronger ties with the Mars Society this year, and the DEVs are currently discussing ways to add to the functionality of marscoin.
They also have a discord now.   Follow MarsCoin on facebook (or your preferred platform) or check their website out periodically to keep up to date.
The network is very active at the moment reported hashrate at the moment is 3,874,509.96 KH/s (yowzers!)

Other Crypto News (or perhaps speculative gossip would be more accurate)
Perhaps not surprisingly Cryptopia called in receivers a year or so after a banking group purchased a majority chunk of their shares and started interferring with its operation (such interferences like delisting altcoins (including marscoin), shutting down the marketplace, closing the mining pools, deleting the popular dotto lotto etc)  and shortly after several million dollars in supernet (eth xmr ripple etc) altcoins were mysteriously stolen from their cold wallets ultimately forcing Cryptopia to file.   The Mysterious part is the cold wallets in question could theoretically only have been accessed by those high placed in the organisation..  such as the above mentioned banking group..  funds continued to disappear even after all the cryptopia equipment had been siezed by federal police and trading suspended - which suggests someone got a hold of the private keys.     Those same missing coins then began slowly appearing on foreign crypto exchanges.  The Plot thickens.   No word yet what has become of the roughly 200 million dollars of non-supernet alt coin and bitcoin that was NOT stolen, and was still held for traders.      Best guess is all trades will be cancelled, and they will allow traders at some point to login briefly to withdrawal their funds.. (what funds are left after the recievers decide to help themselves to it too) but given the court system does not understand crypto, the funds could just as easily be lost - they will probably not be very obvious WHEN traders can log in to withdraw, and many may miss out.
