Sorry if this has been asked before. What is normally done if some of the exchanges you traded on no longer exist? All I have are emails with withdrawals from a few exchanges? How do you approach this scenario?   Tongue
Hi justmyname,

Did you record the trade history anywhere else? Is the operator of the Exchange still reachable by email?
You can only enter what you know. If the data is missing, you have to do without it.

Thanks for the response. I have no records. The exchanges closed down before I got around to recording the trades. They haven't respond when I have tried to reach them.

I didn't do much trading. Just buy and hold. If I would have known the way they were going to tax this I would have just bought Bitcoin only. But I didn't know because no dependable information was available as usual.  All the alternative coins have went down in value from what I payed for them with the exception of Lite Coin. So far (according to what I understand from CoinTracking)  I only owe them $500 dollars in 2014 and when I liquidate  (or write off) that coin they will owe me much more than $500. I don't know about the rest of the coins though.

Looks like it's time to get a CPA and come up with a strategy.
