The problem with Knicks is that they got Porzingis which was a great young player that could make a difference but got rid of him. I mean the whole point of tanking (in this case just being purely bad) you end up getting too draft picks, Knicks literally denied to do their "process" properly and they have sucked so far.
They got some young kids from free agency and trades but that is not enough really, you have to actually make them play in a good system so that they can actually get better, you could potentially get Lebron James at 18 and then manage to keep him for 10+ years without actually using him like you should and he would have never been the player he is. That's why Knicks should first get a decent coach before anything and then a decent GM.
Porzingis expressed his desire to play elsewhere so the knicks got something for him rather than just lose him in free agency and get nothing. He also had a major injury and for a 7 footer to have an acl injury like that carries risk. I was happy we got something for him. Hopefully those picks can help us build a team. And if you are looking to get a new coach and gm, you get the gm first not the coach, but they just got a new coach. Need to see what he can do with a decent squad before we move on again from another coach.
Porzingis was sensational, but the injury is a big problem why they tank last season.
Looking at his statistics :
https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/porzikr01.htmlTha games he played his decreasing, and probably the main reason is injury.
For the 3 seasons with knicks, he played.
2015-16 72 games , 2016-17 66 games , 2017-18 48 games
With that stats, that is not helpful to any team, although in the later season his points averaged has increase.
