People put too high a bearing on forum rank, doesn't mean your a good member with good thoughts, just means you have a lot of free time to spend on this forum.  I don't really pay much attention the merit system either, I think friends and fellow high ranks tend to merit each other more and a lot of shenanigans go on in the local boards.
