Here's a news from
https://www.hoopsrumors.com/The Lakers petitioned the league for a disabled player exception to replace injured center DeMarcus Cousins. If granted, L.A. would have $1.75MM half of Cousins $3.5MM salary that could be used any time through March 10.
This is kind of new to me.
I didn't think there is a kind of exception or ruling in the NBA when an injured player suddenly happens. Still digging through what kind of rule is that or when it should take place.
Maybe because he is injured after signing and while the season haven't started yet?
I don't think the league would approve this petition, Cousins already sign a deal and that injury happens after the contract signing and no player wish to get injured, so I think it's the risk the Lakers management have to accept, getting part of the salary is a kind of injustice to me.
I am now worried about the future of cousins as he has been so prone to injury, after his contract with the Lakers, I think it might be the end of his career.
