Totalitarianism, yes - lurching that way - but it is appearing in the form of nationalism and as far as I can see it seems to be coming more from the right wing than the left in the West.
We know you are a leftie so your opinion carries no weight. But for general information, culture always moves from right to left over time. Nationalism is a right wing thing. It is on the decline, and has been for decades. Look at the hippies, a growing minority to make a statement against what the majority stood for. Nothing was really achieved. Today it's not much different, but this time it's esoterics. So i guess we are going to the opposite what esoteric folks are wishing for, and totalitarianism quite sums it up, imho.
On the other hand, every radical movement or shift in societies was followed by a counter-reaction, in pretty much the opposite direction.
If there's one thing that homo sapiens sapiens (or pan narrans) is best at, it's fucking up.
