Is forcible land redistribution really comparable to basic income? The US is already a welfare state, so changing the structure of paid benefits shouldn't warrant vague comparisons to Soviet Russia.
The important question seems to be "how will this affect taxes, especially compared to existing welfare systems?" Does anyone know? Because presumably if someone is getting paid $1K in basic income, they are not
also getting paid by welfare programs like SSI, food stamps, AFDC ("welfare"), and things like that. Right?
