I agree with everything you say here, no one likes restriction and majority of the government does is to restrict their freedom of choice and hence the hate, the regulation is to protect the common citizen and to put the criminals in jail and if the government is transparent like that i am sure everyone would love to have some regulations in the market What the US government wants is to "protect its citizens"
