AFAIK,many countries banned gambling for saving people from scam gambling activities but in the modern world it can be easily identified with the help of internet and more over crypto gambling too it to the most convenient thing to do but we are still hiding for some reason.
I think the only countries that have actively banned gambling are those with a religion-based government and code of ethics.
Other countries also take a harsh stance when there is a terrible history of corruption and fraud, or when they are unable to control people funnelling their money through casinos as a way to launder it.
So long as you're not gambling compulsively, I see no reason why it should adversely affect your reputation. After all, it's in our nature.I've been a professional poker player for several years now, and have not had any issues whatsoever, because everybody knows I am easily EV+.
In my country gambling is not completely prohibited but lottery were banned here but still some state did allowed it from the official side not from any private owners.
But still people see the whole gambling as wrong thing, whatever I have to live with that.
