tl;dr Polo had an extremely illiquid shitcoin as part of their margin lending/trading system, price dropped 70% in an hour, then Polo socialized losses to all BTC lenders in the form of 17% haircut.
The haircut that was partly repayed and a month or two ago they give you chance to not pay fees or soemthing for your loss untill all loss is fully repayed. But to be clear this loss happened only to those that had tehir coins lending on Polo and earning profit doing so. I personaly had coins on Poloniex and had no loss doing that. Also no profit.
