So.. if I found the right website, Akon is creating his own coin, Akoin. From their website[1]: "AKOIN IS THE EXCLUSIVE CURRENCY OF THE AKOIN ECOSYSTEM". Great, another unnecessary coin. I'm not saying that Akon is a bad person, but if he really wanted to help, pretty much every use-case indicated on their website can already be done using BTC and ETH. I'm guessing that some people just proposed this idea to Akon and asked for permission to use his name. Pretty much the same with Manny Pacquiao's PAC token.

Agreed, already there were more coins based on personalities. Some even created by them as they're good at programming. There needs to be some use case that is unique to get good value to the project and the coin. Here the coin might get popularity as it is named based on his name, but when it comes to use case and growth it won't attract good investors choose it.
what is so special that would make Akoins use case diffrent from any other coin? Sounds to my like a pump and dump scam. Just because a celebrities name is in it does not make the coin special. If anything anyone that has been in the crypto industry for more then 3 months know the Longer ROI is going to be somewhere in the -3 to 5000% range... Smh

To be honest the vision and mission of this Akoin is very good. if you read again on the website akoin.io it is on 'The Akoin Ecosystem unlocks the potential of the world's largest emerging economy through the creation of a trusted cryptocurrency with a vision to stimulate and innovate, revenue-generating opportunities that support and empower youth entrepreneurs, economic stability, and growth across Africa and the world.

he planned the crypto ecosystem in Africa. it's really good if it's really realized. Apart from the thought of investors who want to take advantage it's another matter. if the project is successful I think the price will also rise.
