I was also against it but it was explained that the team needs a income, none of the developers are rich enough that they can develop for free. Bart in slack said other developers who develop for Gulden can also get an income from the 40, it's Gulden board that wil control the 40NLG and how and when it's spent. The 40 will also be used for marketing which Rijk was never good with.
Most of the community on telegram say marketing and lack of exchanges is the reason the price is this low. On the Gulden slack they say because the pools dump all the time.

We will see 200 sat on bittrex if the new rewards aren't dumped. 1.5 million coins is dumped every month by profit switching pools, 80 * 600 * 31 = 1.48 million. Question is will the new CPU miners dump, will the funding amount be dumped and will the witnesses dump their 30 reward, if they do this coin will be worse off. The price is in the communities hands and the profit switching pools can't be blamed after Wednesday.
