Lets talk about "official" as well, that word implies a sense of centralisation, the point of cryptos is decentralisation, control is in the hands of the community majority.
I understand where you're coming from here, and Vertcoin certainly isn't going to start getting officious or centralized, but if any project is going to have a direction to it, that requires that some people who work on it make some choices. You can't do everything by consensus, it just doesn't work - too much time gets spent discussing things and not enough action gets taken.
Also re the logo, it's just not possible to create something everyone will like - I personally really like it, but mainly, as someone said a way back in the thread, sometimes you have to keep the engineers away from the bullhorn; the new logo comes from a professional designer with a wealth of experience, so even if I didn't personally like it, I'd probably defer to his greater knowledge and experience - some things are just best left to people who are specialists.
