TIL one of the high end premiums offered by the first band for the top pledgers will be a songwriting credit - something you keep in perpetuity, and which presumably means royalties down the road.

Paying a no-name band for a songwriting credit -- nothing disingenuous about that at all.

What on earth is "disingenuous" about a band *choosing to offer* a songwriting credit to a very select number of fans who pay the amount of money the band decides is fair, helping significantly to fund their album, gaining the fan a songwriting credit in return?

And the band in question isn't no-name, they have an established fanbase. They're just not signed with a record label, and likely won't feel the pressure to do now that they have an alternate way to fund their music.
