according many many and many articles i read , Phase zero of ethereum 2.0, which enables Proof of Stake (PoS), is targeted to launch on the 3rd of January 2020.

If they really change ethereum into a Proof of Stake coin, then the miners of eth must change their mine target.
Other ethash coin difficulty will be rising because of this, and the price will rising, so i think now is the best time to accumulate other ethash coins.
I also heard that eth will stay still with POW to continue mining the coin with mixture of hybrid POS for staking purposes. Ive seen some projects like this using double mechanism. I think veil it is, the one that is a privacy coin that enable both mining and staking. I think eth will be at the verge of fomo by many during that time as eth is really have a good team working on the ground. January 2020 is few months from now and I can feel how eth will evolve so quickly.
