If you really have to choose, I would suggest you choose ethereum. The potential of Ethereum is greater than Litecoin, and in a situation like this. Not that Litecoin isn't worth investing. It's just, I suggest the best for investment.
Yeah I agree, if you have to choose between these two coins, it's better to choose Ethereum than Litecoin, but it doesn't wrong if you also choose LTC into your portfolio because Litecoin is also a good coin and suitable for long-term investment. I personally will buy LTC and I want to hold it for long-term.

Litecoin is the best option as a long-term investment, the reason is because I have bought and save litecoin in my personal wallet. (i don't have eth)
Not too bad if you want to buy ethereum, and yes, if i want buy I will choose this only for short-term investments (I don't really need eth at this time).
I actually use Litecoin for capital on gambling that I am currently using.
