Going back to 2017 scam ICO launchings, one thing for sure, sites like Coin Market Cap have played a very big role in promoting those scams. Yes they did it because they want money but one thing they should realize that this thing would lead to distrust of new people in crypto which would ultimately also close their shop as well.
Coin Market Cap takes a huge amount of money from those scammers.
When i contacted CMC, i got this email.

If these sites just go for some verification before promoting these scams, it would be very good for the visitors. Verification can include Mobile verification, Identity verification etc. These sites are an open image of crypto, if these sites just reduce their earned money by a bit and plan for long term then it would be beneficial for all of us.
In my opinion the trading volume is based on the rotation of coins in the exchange. If the exchange falsifies the volume, the CMC will detect the results of the exchange.
If the CMC commits fraud by promoting a new ICO, of course they have good reasons, because at the time the ICO was promoted to CMC, they did not admit that they would commit fraud. Fraud will be detected halfway through the project, not initially launched.
CMC only promoting with ICOs want to pay with higher value but when you find CMC promote with scam ICOs you can give or make topic on bitcointalk tread about what the scam ICOs promote by CMC, don't worry if you want to give correct information although have fight with CMC website, when you get very strong valid proof you can explain for investor about scam ICOs promoting.
