This is exactly what is needed to be done once you recieved an email that you can't recognize from whom did it came from. Ignore it as much as possible because the possibility of unknown emails to be a scam. virus, phishing, ransom ware and al the malicious software and sites is very high.
I don't suggest literally ignoring the scam site though. Spend a minute into at least reporting the scam website to Google to potentially decrease the damages. Sadly, not everyone are aware of these types of scams.
