How strong does a character need to be to set aside some amount of money on a weekly gamble?
What needs to happen to make it happen?
Does the great loss solidify our character?
What exactly does it mean to discipline yourself in gambling (in the narrow sense)?
Should we be disciplined in gambling, does it mean that we are better at gambling, or that we put less money at stake with more enjoyment, less fear, adrenaline, etc. ?
Me interested in answering the last question?

Yes definitely it is, you should be well guided before you gamble, I've seen people with strong character falling into the trap of gambling, there is a big difference between a strong character a discipline one, without discipline you will not have limit on how many hours are you spending in gambling and how many funds are you going to allocate, only discipline can do that for you.
What sort of guidance can really help a gambler to stay away from loss and control his fate? None. Gambling should not be played at first place. Due to its unpredictable and destructive nature, it is safe to not get into this activity. It is easy to say and difficult to do that stay disciplined while gambling. No one can really tolerate loss of money and everyone wants to recover the loss for sure.
