I am sure Litecoin will stay in the top 10 on CMC for a long time. I still prefer to use LTC as BTC to transfer, but to be honest, there are many better, faster and cheaper coins to use.
But most of those other coins aren't on all the big exchanges, just some of them. Litecoin is on virtually every big exchange, and very useful for fast transfers.
