probably what you need are LUCK and a few RESEARCH. You will need to have a background on the playing teams so you can know about their strengths and weaknesses specially agains't each other. You will also need to know if there are any players that will not play a certain game because of injury
In addition It would be better if you watched the tape every game or review some of the game made by a specific pair of opposing team. You will somehow learn where to put your bet after you watch a replay of their games. Also you need to be updated with latest news and rumors from that specific sport to have a better idea which team you will place a bet.
