Well there is, the secret is to have self control to avoid addiction. If a gambler has self control then he will be able to know when to stop if he is on a losing streak instead of letting his greed take over. I don't agree that there is no secret in gambling, there is we just have to look for it and it also depends on how you look at things.

A gambler can only stay if he plays with a limited amount that when lost wont hurt him much and the bets made should also have a limited number. This is the only secret of gambling. Other than this, if someone says he has tricks or tips which can help in winning games, it will be hard to believe as random games cant be controlled.

Normally by "skills" people mean the ability to win more games than average gamblers do, but you say that skillful gambling is first and foremost the ability to manage your bankroll so that you are not losing a lot during a short period of time. Being a big poker fan I'd rather agree with you. Such skills are indeed very important because they will not only save you from big losses, but they also can help you to win in a poker tournament, for example.
