I think altcoins will bounce back again. It just needs patience and time. Nevertheless, you can buy bitcoin for now and hold it for sometime. With the altcoin, I'll advise you to wait until altcoin season begins then you can start buying altcoins too.
Now it is best to choose Bitcoin to hold because this year there are not too many good options for everyone so investing in Bitcoin will be a lot safer than altcoin. The market is hard to predict and not sure when uptrend will appear so you should be more careful when trading. Personally, I will sit still and continue to monitor the fluctuations of this market in the near future.
