in my opinion the most effective way to get references is to create a site, or blog, articles and reviews, on social media can also promote referral links, but in my opinion it's still less effective, when there are people promoting referral links usually i will find out first on google, that's where the role of blogs, reviews and articles because it is connected directly with the google search engine.
