Western government is only out after the oil. Everything else they do is only to make them look like good people (a little bit) to the Muslims.
oil isn't a big problem enough substitutes existing, the big problem in the west is now that entire savage third world tries to enslave westerners for their problems.
Of course oil isn't the problem. Finding it, owning it, and controlling it are the problems.
