If you want to tho, you can definitely try your chance and I am pretty sure you can get yourself a whole new branding with everyone slowly forgetting about the old one.

It is not impossible and I am sure it could be done, hell Volkswagen was created by Nazis and Hitler and now they are a huge company, same with Bayer making experiments on Jewish people and killing them to improve medicine, now they are both known as good companies. So long story short, if companies can make people forget their own past, you can surely make people forget someone else with the same name.
