I recently created a post on my local board as a reminder of how not to abuse the use of quotes (see
[Recordatorio] No abusemos de los Quotes (Citas)). That was triggered by a Newbie that made a dash appearance, wrote over twenty posts in a day, and quoted in most of those posts the complete text of someone elses post.
This kind of practice is not really necessary at all (unless for archival purposes of some sort), and it does lead to a disruption of the flow of ones reading. Delimiting the quote to specific concrete parts helps to narrow down the attention to the concerned elements, that are subsequently commented on.
