If you plan to use someone in your official publications and make him part of your team, you have to be certain of that persons identity 100% otherwise you open yourself to these kind of issues. Shouldn't you make him sign some kind of NDA or something similar before hiring?
If you are not able to verify something as basic as team member identity, how can potential investors be sure you won't be so reckless with their money as well?
