I just want to say that you are only denying the existence of God. How can you come up with the idea of God? Since you know Him, He exists. Another is that maybe it is your personal experience that makes yourself distance from God. Try to observe your surroundings. Can't you see how beautiful His creation? Well, I respect your view but I am not convinced of it. 
If we can believe in such a thing so much, how can't we unbelieving it in such a thing so much too? As far as you believe God exists or not, there are other people whose opinions are your opposite with probably the most ridiculous reason you have ever heard. But it does not matter, nothing is a matter lol -just live today like its the last day. Pray, do good, be good, don't sin if you do believe in God and scared of hell. Or do good, be good for the sake of humanity and manners, spend time well if you do not believe in God.
Either don't kill because Jesus told you so, or don't kill because it's just simply immoral. Theist or Atheist or Agnostic, find your reason to be a good person.
