I would at least expect a swap of coins to the new blockchain. At least this would show some sort of respect and acknowledgement for the people who have already spent a lot of their money on electricity and rentals to mine this coin.  If a new blockchain is created, it will be the same people that you want to mine it, and now they have been burnt and perhaps their trust lost.
