Does that mean you're going to applaud them for doing it? There are two ways of looking at it and mine is completely opposite because I can see that youtube is overdoing it. There are channels that deserved it for shilling scams and there are channels that got hit for nothing. There's too much collateral damage for my taste.

Yes! Just like I'm applauding mods here for trashing topics after I report them.
Collateral damage happens everywhere, even on this forum when banning people for plagiarism has sometimes come with mistakes.
I'm tired of having to use multiple youtube accounts because with the one I'm watching bitcoin-related stuff I'm getting hammered with all the shitcoins channel possibles in related stuff.

Common, let's be honest, just like with the so-called crypto news websites, 99% of them are pure garbage.

No, a cleanse was needed and unfortunately (from my point of view) it seems it was limited to a couple of hundred videos.
