NEM Community out there! The Catapult migration committee is looking to hear your thoughts on branding for Catapult. There is a survey going on right now to gauge your opinions about it. If you sincerely care about NEM, kindly answer it out. Here is the link for the survey form.
...
...
Why wouldn't Catapult be just the project name, but the crypto / system would have another name?
...

...
...
...now it is closed !   ... missed it, while thinking the names :-(

That is the problem : clarity is still missing from NEM team.
E.g. Always in the beginning of the survey must be told, how long the survey is open, and how long the survey will approximately take.

About the name:
Catapult means weapon. According to the survey's answers it seems that many do not understand it.
Is a weapon name suitable in the world, where is many quite liberal movements (tho many are not-fact-based, but they guide the masses).

For the name must be arranged another survey, with rewards.

The rebranding proposal is in - https://forum.nem.io/t/branding-proposal/24060/5

They seem to have settled on Symbol.

Symbol...?

Symbol and Sekoya are already reserved / old :-)

The plain Symbol is a little bit ... eh, "cheap", unimaginative.
In the word "Ethereum" is at least invented something new.

If NF has invested on "Symbol", they could at least add some spicy to it:
if it is treated as a verb, then
Symbol them
Symbol'em
Symbolem

which could be seen as a continuation of the "Nothing Else Matters" - line    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kill_%27Em_All Smiley

Other names:
Mythium, Voxbitum  ("voice of the people thru/via bits"), Visbit,
Carapult, Katabit, Leonium, Mytherium, Lytherium, Literium

Edit:
added the previous comments.
Positive is that Catapult has been left to be as a project name and some clarity has come to NEM specs.
Still the name selection is a bit biased. Maybe somebody has had already trademarked something and that was the reason to select the bad name, "Symbol".

Very good Quick Guide.
And Great Voting system !  Smiley

Now I have to say that I am proud of being a member of NEM Smiley

But ...
a bit shame that they suggested such a name Sad    ----- How much we have paid for it? ?
So, I had to vote No - with that great system, tho.  (Voxbitum or other "voice"-based names could be chosen instead)
