We have kind of a problem. I checked the
https://download.pkd.icao.int/ website for the latest DSC (Document Signing Certificate ) and it seems that at least Germany and Austria are not publishing theirs anymore, or they are both very late with their release.
The good news is that there is a workaround, the DSC is always present on the NFC chip of the E-Passport and can therefor be extracted from there. From now on when a user is posting it's passport registration transaction it will include the DSC certificate from the passport.
This is a lot of work and this is why I haven't done it yet, but once implemented it will provide a lot of advantages and no more waiting times to register on UBIC when you just got your passport issued.
Also accepting DSCs from user input is not a security threat as each DSC is signed by the Country Signing Authority and therefor it is not possible to forge one.
