Theft is still theft, but I suppose you could argue that Robbery is hard work and possibly a job/career, but I think we need to define the use of the word 'legitimate' here because obviously there's differing uses of it. If I was planning a robbery, one of my fellow robbers could ask "is this legit?", and not asking if it's a legitimate legal way to make money, but a legitimate money-making job that is likely to pay off or succeed  .
