I think this process will be not finish this year. So, it will not happen this year. 2019 was the big year for ethereum. It can be boosted next year.
It was planned since last year and as you can see on ETH twitter they already anounced the ETH2 so i'm sure it will happen this year if there's nothing obstacle to stop the development or at least they will launch it and the end of the year. But will the price reach the ATH before ? let's see
And you didn't watch the latest tweet from ethereum core development if the full implementation is about to be finished next year. I just try to remind you there will be a lot of phase to upgrade the network into the ethereum 2.0
The core developer just try to take the longest time scan to make sure if everything can be done perfectly. I think that's not a problem of ethereum doesn't try to rust it.
There is a lot of phases to the update, yes. However, just the fact that it's being updated with a bunch of new features will hype it up and probably increase the price. Just look at how much BSV has gone up with good news over the last week or so. That same thing is probably going to happen to Ethereum whenever they roll out updates. Good news is usually good for the price of a coin.
